We're a Brisbane-based homewares brand providing Australian Merino wool quilts and Merino sheepskin rugs, publishing every specification that matters. Fill weight in grams. Pile depth. Backing material. Stitch construction. The things a label should say, plainly. 

Why LAYER exists

Most wool bedding is sold on feelings — words like cosy, natural, breathable — with nothing underneath you could check. Most designer homewares are sold on how they look, with the materials list buried or missing. Neither tells you what you're actually buying.

LAYER was built on a simple standard: if it can't be stated as a fact, it doesn't go on the label. You'll find exact fill weights, construction methods and material origins on every product page. You won't find claims we can't back. 

What we make

[The Quilt] Australian Merino wool Quilt.

Our Australian Merino wool quilt carries 350gsm of 100% Australian Merino wool fill inside an ivory cotton sateen shell, held in place with clamshell dome construction so the fill stays where it should. Every specification is on the product page — fill weight, shell weave, finished weight per size.

[The Base] Australian Merino sheepskin rug

The Base is a genuine fleece-on-hide Australian Merino sheepskin rug that works two ways: as a floor rug, or as a mattress underlay. It comes in Sand and Eucalyptus, in Queen and King sizes, with pile depth, backing and stitch construction stated in full.
